Born Spring Aspers, the current President of Music at Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group, spent her childhood between the electric streets of New York City and New Mexico. Both places would prove to be instrumental in developing her strong love for the arts.
She would then travel to Los Angeles, California where she attended Santa Monica College, before transferring to UCLA. During this time she would obtain an internship with a music supervision company and work on movies like “The Big Lebowski” and “Kingpin”. It was during that time Spring would obtain the knowledge and experience she would need to step out on her own and embark on the next chapter of her journey.
Going on to music supervise blockbuster films like “The Whole Nine Yards” starring Bruce Willis and “Next Friday” starring Ice Cube, Ms. Aspers knew that music and film was where her heart belonged and was excited to be a part of more projects.
Her excitement would be met with an offer from recording industry executive Lyor Cohen to start and run the soundtrack department for then-newly combined Island Def Jam music group. She jumped at the chance and spent nine years in this position working alongside artists like The Killers, Rihanna, Ne-Yo, Fall Out Boy, and Jay-Z, who became president of the company during Spring’s tenure.
Moving on from a department she helped create, Spring would be asked to join Sony Pictures. In 2009 she assumed the role of Executive Vice president of Music Affairs. The soundtracks for “Think Like A Man,” “Heaven Is For Real,” and Whitney Houston’s last musical effort and film “Sparkle” are just a few of the projects Spring Aspers has created while in her current position.
The love and passion for music, film, and the arts as a whole still remains with Spring today as she has no plans to slow down anytime soon, already signing on to oversee projects well into the future. She remains committed to her craft and producing projects with the same passion she started with years ago.
