Sean Barry is President of Jacmar Companies, a vertically integrated family office with diverse holdings across real estate, foodservice, logistics and hospitality. Since assuming leadership in 2019, Sean has overseen strategic investments and operations for Jacmar’s portfolio, which includes Shakeys Pizza, where Jacmar serves as franchisor of 48 locations and owns and operates 30 company-run restaurants throughout Southern California. Until its 2024 sale to Sysco, Jacmar also owned California’s largest independent foodservice distributor, Jacmar Foodservice. Following the sale, the company spun off a third-party logistics division, which now operates a 4PL facility based in Ontario, California.
With more than two decades of experience in commercial real estate finance, Sean began his career as Vice President at Johnson Capital, where he structured debt and equity solutions for developers nationwide. He also led the Western US operations for Mezz Cap Finance from 2006 to 2008. After Johnson Capital was acquired by Walker and Dunlop in 2014, Sean launched Westside Partners, an independent firm focused on real estate capital advisory. He closed Westside Partners in 2019 to partner with real estate investor John Tilley, CEO and owner of The Jacmar Companies, to help manage his family office and jointly pursue new investment opportunities.
Sean began investing in real estate in 2008 and has since founded and managed over 25 partnerships, including condominium conversions, luxury homes, creative office redevelopments, multifamily assets and ground-up mixed-use developments. He is one of the managing partners in all of these ventures, which are operated independently of Jacmar through a series of separate partnerships. Today, these efforts include ownership and operation of over 800 apartment units in Colorado, active development of a 120-unit mixed-use project at Olympic and Fairfax in Los Angeles, and the entitlement of a 100- unit high-rise luxury apartment tower in downtown Santa Monica. In addition to its real estate holdings, the Jacmar family office maintains a diversified portfolio with investments in public markets, private equity and operating businesses. Sean brings a hands-on, entrepreneurial approach to managing the firm’s long-term strategy.
