Doug Scherrer was born and raised in St. Louis before attending college at Princeton University. After graduating magna cum laude with a degree in Economics in 2003, Doug was an Associate at The Boston Consulting Group in NYC for two years and then joined the Private Equity firm General Atlantic in 2005.

In 2008, Doug opened General Atlantic's office in São Paulo, Brazil. The original plan of a 6-month stint turned into four years there, with Doug returning to the General Atlantic headquarters in NYC at the end of 2011.

In 2013, Doug left General Atlantic and moved back to São Paulo. After a year as the acting CFO of a travel start-up called Oasis Collections, Doug became the CFO of Nubank, a Brazilian FinTech start-up, in 2014. Today, Nubank is the largest digital bank in the world and is listed on the New York Stock Exchange with a market capitalization of over $40 billion.

Doug moved to Los Angeles in 2016 to get married and became a Vice President at ClearLight Partners, a Private Equity firm based in Newport Beach. In 2020, Doug founded his own investment firm, LASP Capital, which manages a portfolio of publicly-traded growth companies. In addition, Doug is an active angel investor in start-ups, many of which are in Brazil.

Doug lives in Santa Monica with his wife, Dr. Adriana Schmidt, who is the co-owner of Santa Monica Dermatology Group. They have two children, Caroline (five) and Henry (three). Their favorite family activities include exploring Los Angeles, enjoying the outdoors at the beach and on hiking trails, and inviting other families over for dinner at their home.
