State Championship

SMC Women's Volleyball is headed to State, but we need your help!

Budgets are tight, and winning a state championship is hard. Please support our Volleyball Program.

Beyond the immediate State Championship expenses of chartered bus, hotels, food, and banquets, we need more funding for training equipment, balls, and other program needs.

Program Updates

The Santa Monica College Women's Volleyball team is continuing their historic season. Currently the team is in transit to the 3C2A State Championships in Northern California. SMC is 26-4 (12-0 Undefeated Conference Champions), and swept their first two playoff opponents.

The team is led by All-State & Conference MVP MB Nicole Lankton (Redondo Beach, CA), 2x WSC Conference Libero of the Year Annah Legaspi (Torrance, CA) as well as a mix of talented freshmen and sophomores including All Conference First Team members OH Mia Whitlock (Burlington, Washington) and MB/OH Nadene Ta'ase (Pago Pago, American Samoa).  2nd team All Conference Setter Makena Gamby (Vancouver, Washington) went over 1,000 career assists, while fellow 2nd team honoree OPP Reese Luke (Chugiak, Alaska) just committed to NCAA D2 St Martins in Seattle/Tacoma.  Other All Conference nominees included sophomore setter Stella Moritz (Culver City, CA) and freshman OH Savannah Wooley (North Torrance, CA).

Coach Christian Cammayo was also awarded WSC Coach of the Year.

Beach Update

On the sand, the 2025 Beach team finished 21-2, won conference, and our top pair won the State Championship.

The team also was honored to compete against NCAA Champion Nebraska twice . . . and even without scholarships, SMC had four real match opportunities to win!!!

Our top four pairs also received AVCA Top Flight National Recognition:

  • Annah Legaspi (Torrance, California) /Nicole Lankton (Redondo Beach, California)
  • Samantha Harvey (Iowa City, Iowa)/ Sophia Vandenberg ( Bellevue, Idaho)
  • Sadie Town (Piedmont, California) / Eden Lorin (Piedmont, California)
  • Allison Horin (Kirkland, Washington) / Makena Gamby (Vancouver, Washington)

Post season, 5 student athletes received NCAA D1 beach interest post season.  Sophomore Nicole Lankton committed to Long Beach State to play NCAA Division 1 Beach Volleyball in the Big West.  Sophomores Sophia Vandenberg and Kyla Dothard (Lancaster, California) also continued their beach volleyball careers after SMC.  Vandenberg is now competing at College of Idaho, while Dothard chose Hope International University from her many choices.

Please help us keep this momentum going on the hardwood and the sand!
