SMC provides a dynamic learning environment for more than 27,000 students annually, encouraging and supporting their educational goals and academic success. More than half are first-generation college students and 63% come from low-income households. These students often face economic challenges impacting their basic needs and many experience food insecurity.
Yet SMC students have grit and determination. They stive to improve not only their lives and trajectory, but often the lives of their family, as well as the community as a whole. SMC is the number one transfer school for Black and Latinx students, and has transferred more students to University of California campuses, University of Southern California, and Loyola Marymount University than any other college in the country for more than 33 consecutive years.
Your donation provides direct assistance to students most in-need (such as those who may be facing food, housing or other basic needs insecurities) to ensure they remain enrolled and successfully complete their degree.
