A program designed for students interested in making a difference by working in the homeless response system.

The Homeless Service Work Program is a innovative program designed to create a pipeline to meet the increased demand for trained workers in the homeless response system in Los Angeles County. Through investment in workforce training, this program combats the universal and growing challenges in the homeless service sector including workforce shortages and high turnover. Launched in Fall 2024, the HSW program is the first of its kind in California. Students will learn to:

  • Navigate complex systems and problem solve for those who are unhoused.

  • Advocate for economic mobility and housing justice.

  • Provide direct service to individuals experiencing homelessness, including healthcare, housing and other essential services.

Your donation will help continue this innovate program and train future leaders to end homelessness. Thank you for supporting the HSW Program at SMC!
