Known as “Mr. D,” to his students, and “Charlie,” to his colleagues, SMC Professor Charles R. Donaldson, devoted his life to journalism. Joining the SMC faculty as a professor of English and journalism in 1973, Donaldson served as advisor to the Corsair, from 1973 to 1992. He retired in 2004 at the age of 71.
Charles R. Donaldson passed away on October 3, 2023 at the age of 89. The Donaldson family asks that anyone who was inspired by his wisdom, thoughts or words, to please consider contributing. His scholarship is awarded to a single SMC student majoring in journalism.
